A specialist music educator with extensive experience in leading schools across Surrey and South West London, I teach classroom music at KS3 and KS4 alongside a broad programme of co-curricular work encompassing large ensemble direction, jazz band coaching, and classical chamber music. My teaching is underpinned by an active career as a professional performer, bringing firsthand musicianship and current artistic practice into every aspect of my work with students.
I have considerable experience leading large-scale school ensembles and developing student musicians within both classical and jazz traditions. Through my work with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, where I contribute to the development and mentorship of young jazz musicians, I am committed to nurturing independent musicianship and an appreciation of the breadth and richness of the musical canon.
In individual lessons I teach singing, bassoon, and piano, working with pupils across a wide range of ages, abilities, and goals: from those preparing for graded examinations and conservatoire auditions to those developing a lifelong enjoyment of music. I hold high expectations of every student while ensuring that learning remains engaging, purposeful, and tailored to the individual.
